Fred Angel |
---|
1973 founding member of NVBC |
We lost one of our original members and founders of the Northern Virginia Brittany Club. Fred Angel passed away on April 10, 2010 at the age of 91. Fred was an avid field trialer and one of the finest men I ever met. When I first joined the club he was the president and was so kind and supportive to both Bob and I. He was always there to lend a hand to put up the tent, plant birds, marshal and bring something for our dinners. Of course, his beloved Catherine provided that delicious contribution to the dinners. At the young age of 80, he was still getting on a horse and judging or planting birds and yes even running his dog, Sam. His daughter, Becky, said, “Daddy said he wanted to get on a horse and still field trial when he was 80 and play golf when he was 90”. He stop trialing at 82 and moved to Florida where he was able to do his second love which was playing golf. Three days before he died, he shot a 90 round of golf. Becky said one of his better games. The NVBC Angel award is given to one of our members in honor of Fred. This was a small way of saying thanks for many dedicated years to the club. He lost his beloved, Catherine, last year and now will lie to rest with her in Arlington National Cemetery. Bob and I were lucky to have gotten together with Fred at Catherine’s funeral. Northern Virginia Brittany Club will miss him and his loyalty and support for the club. May God bless and keep you Fred Angel. - Joann Anders, 1st Vice President, NVBC
